A technical specialist’s CV: what to include for project work

A useful CV explains the work you can do. For electricians, mechanics and installers, specific operations and equipment are more informative than “reliable and experienced”. Use this structure when applying for a project.

A technical specialist’s CV: what to include for project work

State your trade and contact details

Name your profession and preferred area: industrial electrician, mechanical installer or ELV specialist. List alternative roles separately. Include your phone number with country code and email.

Say where you are based, whether you can travel and when you can start. Do not send banking details or copies of personal documents in the first application without a clear request and an agreed transfer method.

Describe completed work

For each employer, give dates, site type, role and tasks. Explain whether you installed production lines, worked on construction sites or maintained operating equipment.

  • Operations performed independently.
  • Equipment and tools used.
  • Drawings, diagrams and instructions used.
  • Testing, adjustment or commissioning experience.
  • Supervision of people or a work area.

For example, describe conveyor assembly, frame installation and fixing checks if those are your actual tasks. Do not claim skills you have not yet acquired.

Be specific about certificates and languages

State education and qualifications. Add certificate expiry dates where applicable and say if renewal is needed. Equipment brands should reflect genuine hands-on experience.

Describe practical language ability: reading instructions, speaking to a supervisor or joining briefings. Understanding technical English and speaking fluently are different skills. Accuracy helps find a suitable project.

Send a clear application

Put the vacancy title in the subject line. Briefly introduce your trade and availability. Attach a readable CV, check your phone number and make sure the file opens.

Workteil applications can be emailed to recruitment@workteil.com. Before deciding, clarify duties, pay, schedule, accommodation and travel. Ask the recruiter about anything unclear before starting.

Before sending

  • Trade, phone and email are easy to find.
  • Experience describes tasks and equipment.
  • Education and certificates are accurate.
  • Languages and travel availability are described honestly.
  • Start availability is stated.
  • The subject includes the vacancy title.

Adapt the emphasis to the vacancy while keeping all information accurate. One general CV will not highlight the most relevant experience for every project.
